River Bluff Athletics Media Policy and Procedures
River Bluff understands and appreciates the importance of providing access for coverage of our athletic programs, student-athletes, coaches, and contests. It is our goal to provide access as widely, uniformly, and fairly as possible using normally accepted media standards. It is not permissible for media members to directly contact coaches and/or student-athletes for access without going through the proper channels of these procedures.
Media Credential Process
Accepted Credentials
The following credentials will be accepted at the gate:
- Local/National Newspaper, TV, Radio Outlets
- Local/National Photographers associated with Newspaper, TV, Radio Outlets
- Lexington District 1 Media Personnel
- River Bluff Yearbook, CMAD, and Gator Gameday Personnel
- Online media outlets that are legitimate news organizations and publish credible, original content regularly, maintain editorial oversight, are supported by paid advertising or subscriptions, and have a verifiable business presence should submit a request for approval and, if approved, must present their credentials at the gate
Credential Applications
- All other outlets, including but not limited to social media influencers, bloggers, photographers, or digital content producers, must complete a media request at least 48 hours in advance of the game they wish to cover.
- Completing the request does not guarantee admittance. If approved, requests will receive an email with instructions sent prior to the event.

Priority
River Bluff Athletics may prioritize working media credential requests using the following factors:
- Local Newspaper/Radio/TV Outlets
- Lexington School District 1 Media Personnel
- River Bluff Yearbook, CMAD, and Gator Gameday Personnel
- Eligible and approved online media outlets, with preference given to sites that provide coverage to a specific sport.
- Social Media photographers and other personnel
Credential Duration
- The credential will only be good for the game requested and may only be used for that specific game. If the game is rescheduled, the credential will be good for the rescheduled date.
Student Media
- River Bluff students enrolled in Yearbook and CMAD classes and are assigned to cover their respective athletic programs are welcome to all River Bluff athletic events, but must have a Media Credential issued by RBHS Athletics and RBHS Student ID.
- All other students seeking media credentials must be affiliated with an approved media outlet (see #1) and serve in a working role in that outlet -or- go through the application process (see #2).
Credential Holder Requirements and Limitations
- Credentialed media representatives and their outlets, including student representatives and their outlets (“Credential Holders”), are asked to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with professional codes of conduct and ethics (such as the ones provided by the Society of Professional Journalists) in terms of their actions, decorum, dress, etc.
- Credentialed holders are expected to adhere to all requirements of this policy, the applicable rules, regulations, and policies of River Bluff High School and Lexington School District One. This also includes venue-specific rules and all applicable local, federal, and state laws. Failure to do so may result in removal from the venue and revocation of credentials.
- Credentialed holders are responsible for the conduct of their representatives, including any damage caused by the negligent, reckless, or malicious act of their representative.
Risks
- By applying for credentials, outlets and their representatives acknowledge and assume the risks that come from viewing sporting events, including being struck or injured by participants and flying objects such as balls, bats, and other sports equipment.
Access, Issuance, and Revocation
- River Bluff High reserves the right to deny or revoke credentials at any time in its sole discretion. No guarantee of the availability of credentials, space, viewing, telephone, or internet access is made.
